Video: This classic 'Vette turned itself into a flamethrower

It's not exactly the ideal situation is it? You're about half way through a lap of Road Atlanta during the iconic Mitty run by Historic Sportscar Racing and, rather than helping you execute a perfect 90-degree right with just a flick of the wheel and a book of the right pedal, your stunning black Corvette decides to erupt in a dramatic display of flames and smoke.
Fortunately the driver seems to have been able to pull off pretty sharpish and avoid too much further trouble. Almost more amazing is the fact that no one else follows him off as they enter the Bond-style smokescreen that's been left around Road Atlanta's turn 6.
