We hope you didn’t forget about Zenvo, because Denmark’s second-biggest carmaker after Lego has announced plans for a new hypercar. And based on previous efforts, it could be something special.
A quick recap for those struggling to recall: Zenvo was founded in 2007 as a new, and somewhat local rival for Sweden’s Koenigsegg, operating on a similar business plan and with broadly similar offerings. Up until now, it’s launched a range of road-going and track-biased supercars.
The ST/TS and TSR offerings thrown up by the firm so far have used a range of raucous and muscular powertrains, including a 1,104 PS (812kW) supercharged and turbocharged LS7 V8 in the firm’s first car, the ST1, before moving to an in-house developed flat-plane crank 5.8 V8 for later models. You may remember TSR-S most of all though, with its somewhat wacky ‘centripetal’ moving rear wing.
Next up, however, will be a hybrid hypercar using 6.0-litre V12 power, and two versions are being prepared. Zenvo has not shown any pictures of the new car, which is being developed under the project name Aurora. The two variants – the Aurora Agil (Agile) and Aurora Tur (Tour) – will once again provide the basis of a road-going hypercar or track-toy choice for the 100 customers who’ll get their hands on one.
Built around a carbon monocoque with carbon subframes, this modular platform – and the V12 sat within it – will form the backbone of the future Zenvo line-up, says the firm. Both Aurora models will be designed for driving engagement over chasing pure numbers and performance, but the Tur version will still be capable of a top speed of over 248mph (400kmh), apparently.
Aston Valkyrie, watch this space? We'll find out soon enough – a world debut for the Aurora is planned for August.
