You could own the one-off Bugatti Chiron Profilée

Production of the Bugatti Chiron is soon to come to an end, with only the last of the Super Sports and the line of open-top Mistral’s for the W16 platform to birth. There is one last Chiron not accounted for, though, and it’s a one-off that’s just been revealed today. Meet the Bugatti Chiron Profilée.

It wasn’t intended to be a one-off. Born of customer’s requests for a car with Pur Sport character but in a more elegant form, what is effectively a ‘Touring’ version of the Pur Sport was in development and destined for its own line of cars. Alas, room wasn’t found within the strict 500-car run of Chirons to be produced and the Profilée, now fully-formed, is to number no more than one.

It packs all the under-the-skin goodies of the Pur Sport, including the shorter gear ratios, 1,500PS engine specification and more performance-oriented chassis setup. It’s at the rear that the differentiation becomes obvious, with the Pur Sport’s large width-spanning 1.9-metre rear wing replaced with a more subtle item. Still fixed and still a producer of serious downforce, this wing also serves to help extract heat from the engine bay. The car is fully developed and is presented as if to be the first of a full production run.

The colour is Argent Atlantique – unique for this car – and exposed Bleu Royal carbon, with a unique woven leather finish in the interior. The material covers the dash, door panels and centre console, with more than 2,500 metres of leather strips used in its creation.

So how does one get hold of the Profilée? We did say you can own it and indeed, we weren’t lying. The car is to be auctioned by RM Sotheby’s on 1 February 2023. As for how much money you’ll need, that’s entirely up for debate. The last ‘one-off’ Bugatti was the La Voiture Noir, which admittedly was completely differentiated from the Chiron line, even sporting a longer wheelbase.

Regardless, its £10million+ figure isn’t out of the question for the Chiron Profilée. After all, this will be the last W16-powered Bugatti to be revealed and indeed, the last Chiron, given the Mistral is its own line of cars. Our bet? Over £5million but under £10million. We don’t see the Noir losing its title of most expensive modern Bugatti just yet…
