You can buy a 911 Turbo S to match your private jet

You will know the problem: how do you get a Porsche 911 Turbo S that perfectly matches your business jet? Now, finally, there is an answer. Porsche has teamed up with Brazilian private aircraft manufacturer Embraer to deliver the “Duet”, ultimate matching pair for the jet set. And don’t they look cool together, the larger wing and trick new aerodynamics more impressive than ever – and that’s only the Porsche.

The car is the latest 911 Turbo S and its counterpart from the world of aviation is the Phenom 300E, Embraer’s sportiest model with a top speed two and a half times that of the Turbo S. Both are finished in the same two-tone paintwork, a gloss platinum silver top half and satin grey metallic lower section – combining gloss and satin finishes is a first for Porsche and all had to be done by hand, says the firm. Notice too the chrome trims – those around the air intakes meant to mimic the Embraer’s twin jet engines – and lots of “Speed Blue” highlights and logos.

Both aircraft and car are just as hand finished inside. The joint theme is black leather with Speed Blue stitching, and the car gets in addition lots of Alcantara and carbon-fibre parts. It’s all been put together by bespoke arm, Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur, and as a package will remain unable to be replicated for series production models. There is of course nothing worse than having your custom Porsche copied by all and sundry...

The Embraer is very much the Turbo S of the aviation world, combining high performance with everyday useability (it says here). Powered by twin Pratt & Whitney turbofan engines the 300E is the fastest and longest-ranged single-pilot jet available. It is also known for its big windows – including one in the loo.

Porsche has a long heritage in aviation engineering. Ferdinand Porsche designed engines for airships and the 3.2-litre flat-six from 1980s 911s was used in Cessna sports planes. It is even partnering Boeing in developing an electric flying Porsche. The Duet might have “No step” lettering (illuminated in red) on the door treadplates but it remains very much a colour and trim marketing exercise by comparison

It’s an exclusive one, though: just 10 of the Duet duos are being made available. No price for the pair is given but, if you are not tempted enough already, bear in mind each high-flying set comes with a 1919 Globetimer UTC watch and luggage set from Porsche Design.

And before you ask, the luggage does include a pilot’s case…
