Video: This Caterham onboard looks like it’s been sped up
Track day onboards can be hit and miss (quite literally, sometimes), and we would normally steer well clear. But in this instance, the driving is just too good to ignore.
Join Daniel French at Cadwell Park back in 2015 for three very hot laps indeed. Piloting his Caterham R500 Duratec Superlight, which was running on Avon ZZR tyres and Nitron one-way adjustable shocks, he tests the limits of grip and gravity at a blistering pace around the Lincolnshire circuit.
In footage so fast it looks sped up, French sets his fastest lap time of the day of 1:36.200, while the R500 screams in accord. It’s a joy to watch, and a wonderful reminder that you don’t always need huge sponsorship and the most high-tech cars to be fast.
