You will be able to read the full facts behind the new car here on GRR while you will also be able to stream the global launch online, with McLaren promising a spectacular show to include brand personalities and an interactive Q&A session here.
What will we see? Artura is a mid-engined two-seater which, while so far shown only wearing its camouflage, is expected to be immediately recognisable as one of the McLaren supercar family. Expect lots of familiar styling cues.
It will be less familiar under the engine cover, with McLaren’s first and all-new V6 petrol engine as part of an electrified drivetrain. McLaren’s HPH – high performance hybrid – system is a plug-in hybrid whose electric motor can boost the V6’s performance as well as provide electric-only running in zero emission zones.
Last year McLaren Automotive chief executive Mike Flewitt told us: “The Artura is the distillation of everything we have done to date; all that we have learned and achieved. It is a new kind of McLaren for a new era, an extraordinary drivers’ car that offers blistering performance as well as an all-electric range capable of covering most urban journeys.”
HPH is a next-gen version of McLaren’s first hybrid, the Ultimate Series P1, but designed for a much larger customer base. As replacement for the Sports Series, the Artura will sit alongside the GT as McLaren’s entry level models below the 720S Super Series. The Artura is expected to be the first of what will become a family of hybrid supercars.
The Artura will also debut a new carbon-fibre architecture at its core to ensure the brand’s signature light weight and rigidity for what the firm says will be outstanding performance and driver engagement. Full details next week!
