You’ve got the P1 for high days and holidays, the Senna for track fun and a 720S for everyday use, but something is still missing from your ultimate McLaren garage. What you need is a more lifestyle and comfort orientated Macca ideal for trips away. A McLaren GT in other words. A new version announced today promises to widen the GT’s appeal as never before.
It’s the GT Ride-On, the fourth car in McLaren’s range of electric miniatures for supercar enthusiasts aged three to six and pocket money priced, by the standards of the real GT anyway.
Like its trio of half-pint predecessors, the littlest GT comes in a range of authentic McLaren colours – McLaren Orange for us please – with signature McLaren design cues, such as working dihedral doors, ideal for when you really want to make an entrance when pulling up at the play group.
Golf clubs won’t fit as they will in the full-size GT, but a separate storage compartment offers plenty of room for toddler essentials. The electric GT’s motor is started with a key and made to go and stop via working pedals. Lots of brrrrm-brrrrm type engine noises accompany acceleration while a functioning brake light warns people behind when the Ride-On driver clamps on the anchors.
Want music in your car? The GT for grown-ups has an award-winning 12-speaker 1,200W system by Bowers & Wilkins, and while the GT Ride-On can’t match that, it does come with an infotainment system for playing music from a USB device or SD card. An MP4 display screen on the dash is an option.
“At McLaren Automotive, we aim to inspire the future generation of supercar enthusiasts,” says McLaren’s Hayley Robinson.
You can pick up McLaren’s latest model for the toddler in your life from selected toy retailers around the world, at a Lilliputian price of £163, or £234 for the fully optioned-up version.
