This is a 4,000PS, V12, £2.5m Lamborghini yacht

If it looks like a Lamborghini, roars like a Raging Bull and has more power than it strictly needs, it probably is… a Lamborghini. Even if it’s in water. Say ciao to the Sián of the seas.

Yup it’s a boat, and a mighty big (63ft long), expensive (around £2.5m) and fast (60 knots, or 70mph) one at that. A typical over-the-top Lambo then, and surely as wonderfully dramatic a sight cutting through the waves as its automotive inspiration is blasting down the autostrada.

That inspiration is said to come from the limited-edition Sián FKP 37, the first hybrid car from Sant'Agata. While there is no electrification here – just a pair of dirty great V12 diesel engines – the car’s influence is plain to see. Seats, steering wheel, use of carbon-fibre, dashboard graphics, colour and trim all originate with the cars, as does the abundance of hexagonal design motifs.

It’s all the work of Lamborghini’s Centro Stile design studio and the luxury motor yacht specialists the Italian Sea Group, which is building the boat under its Tecnomar brand. You’d think there could not be much design in common between car and yacht but between them they seem to have conjured up a shape every bit as jaw-dropping as the cars. It looks like a Lambo.

The Tecnomar for Lamborghini 63 (its official name) won’t be as fast though, despite its twin MAN V12s churning out 4,000PS (2,983kW), or around five times the power of the Sián which lest we forget is the most powerful Lambo ever. With that maximum speed of 60 knots and a cruising speed of 40 knots (46mph), it’s still pretty brisk for something that weighs 24 tonnes and comes complete with master and guest suites, galley and all manner of luxury mod cons.

Lamborghini is no stranger to the marine world, having long produced a marinised V12 engine for offshore powerboat racing. And it’s done some utterly mad things with its own designs: who could forget the 2017 Aventador SV speedboat?

This Tecnomar for Lamborghini 63 is something different, not merely a one-off – it’s said the boat shown here has just been delivered to its first owner – but a boat now available for ordering. And the target buyer? Of course, already a Lamborghini owner. After all, if you already have the Sián you’d surely want one of these to go with it…
