The Tricolore is the most extreme Pagani Huayra

Never ones to trade purely on pomp and circumstance, the Huayra Tricolore with its 840PS (618kW) and 1,100Nm (811lb ft) also happens to be the most powerful Huayra and therefore the most powerful road car, Pagani has yet produced. Yes, just about more powerful than the Imola, the most extreme Huayra variant yet made, which it revealed just under a year ago.

The Huayra Tricolore, unlike the Zonda that precedes it, uses a Roadster as its base. The front and rear are more akin to the ‘standard’ roadster, while the engine, spoiler and roof scoop are modified variants of those found on the more extreme Roadster BC. That engine is a heavily revised version of the 6.0-litre twin-turbo V12 built by Mercedes-AMG, that’s powered the Huayra since its introduction.

Special details include dials reminiscent of aeronautical instrumentation, as well as tricolour arrow symbols. For reference, Frecce Tricolori literally translates to Tricolour Arrows. These are in among lashings of Italian flag colours and blue carbon – it’s a loud and proud thing.

Pagani being Pagani and this car representing what it does, it wasn’t a subtle debut. The car demonstrated its performance on an Italian runway, complete with its own smoker, as the aerobatic jets it commemorates did their thing. They could have just ripped a burnout, couldn’t they?

On its reveal, the original Zonda Tricolore was going to be a one-off but production was extended to three examples to meet demand. This time, three examples of the new Huayra Tricolore have been planned from the off.

The Huayra Tricolore, if it hasn’t already sold out, is available for a hair under £5million, before tax, so over six once it’s landed and legal. Mr Pagani, we’ll take all three.
