We’ve known it was coming, now it’s almost here: BMW’s new front-end look 4 Series arrives today, and from a teaser, some images of pre-production prototypes and leaked images of the completed car, it’ll have a tall and narrow kidney grille that draws inspiration from classic BMWs like the 328 roadster of the 1930s.
With an official preview from BMW, it’s expected the bold new grille design is the stand out design feature of the new 4 Series coupe. Its reveal is sure to spark a lively design debate of the sort last seen in the Bangle era with the then controversially styled 7 Series. However, it is thought the upright new grille will not be applied across the board but remain for specialist sporting models like the new coupe.
Another surprise in store for the 4 Series may be its dynamic repertoire, as GRR as previously reported. BMW is keen to position the two-door 3 Series as a far sportier model than before, saying it will have “a chassis set-up focused unerringly on exhilarating dynamic performance”. The range will be headed by a second-generation M4 with around 500 horsepower.
We’ll know more about the new Four when it is unveiled tomorrow (Tuesday).
