The AMG GT Track Series is a 734PS track weapon

What are the differences between the road car and this track-only special? They are in fact numerous. Starting with the engine, a bump up to 734PS (539kW) from the 4.0-litre twin-turbo flat-plane crank V8 comes via race-spec injectors, among other unnamed adjustments.

Between the engine and the road, the seven-speed twin-clutch ‘box is gone, with a six-speed sequential item from Hewland taking its place. Also swapped out are the carbon-ceramic rotors for larger endurance-spec steel items, and the grooved tyres, replaced by 325-section slicks.

The aero kit, while already extreme on the Black Series, has been tuned up for the Track Series, with an adjustable front splitter and rear wing. These complement the ride- and bump-adjustable suspension and anti-roll bars.

If it looks similar to a Black Series on the outside, on the inside it’s much more series. Gone is the road-car’s grand tourer steering wheel, in its place a bespoke Cube-designed race item.

There’s a custom Bosche driver display, many more adjustable controls on the revamped centre console and a single-piece carbon dash. Lining the cabin’s extremities like a skeleton is a full roll cage, while five-point harnesses will keep you strapped in the racing seats.

All in all, the Track Series could prove a formidable adversary for the Goodwood Hill-monstering McLaren 720S GT3X. Yours if you can nab one of the 55, for around £310,000.
