This is the Range Rover SV Ultimate Edition, the new pinnacle trim level of the Range Rover line-up. A product of the SV Bespoke personalisation team, the Ultimate does what it says on the tin. Available with a choice of powertrains, your Ultimate Edition Range Rover can be anything from the plug-in hybrid P400E, to the 565PS supercharged V8 SVAutobiography Dynamic.

If it’s a bit confusing to you, fear not, we’ll clarify. SV Bespoke is to Land Rover what Q or MSO are to Aston Martin or McLaren. It’s how you go that extra mile in terms of specification. The Ultimate editions are as near as you can get, without convincing them to build that two-door SV Coupe, to what happens when you throw the book at them and write a blank cheque.

No, it doesn’t have anything to do with mechanicals. It’s all about the details, inside and out. Ultimate Edition spec vehicles are hand-finished at Land Rover’s SVO technical centre in the UK, by the SV Bespoke team. Flying the flag for the Ultimate Editions is the new satin Orchard Green paintwork, new on the model shown in the images, complemented by a Narvik Black roof and copper details. SV roundels abound on the inside and on the B-pillar, make sure everyone knows exactly what you’ve got. On the inside, there’s even an ‘SV Bespoke Ultimate Edition’ commissioning plaque on the centre console. Buyers even have the option of leather upholstery from Poltrona Frau.

Pricing is only available for the V8-powered SVA variants of the Ultimate edition and they come as a shock. For the full-fat long-wheelbase, you’ll be shelling out £183,706 OTR. For the standard-wheelbase ‘Dynamic’, it’s £147,441 OTR. That represents increases over the standard top-end SVA models of £25,000 and £5,000 respectively.

Range Rover has defined the luxury SUV segment for more than half a century, with our SVAutobiography models offering customers a world-class travel experience – whether driving or being driven,” said Mark Turner, Commercial Director at Land Rover SVO.

“These new Ultimate editions elevate that refinement and sophistication even further.”

Does it signal the end for this generation of Range Rover? The end is indeed nigh and the ‘Ultimate’ name does have a finality to it but nothing has been said of these options suggesting that. One thing’s for sure, these are the most opulent and expensive Range Rovers in the model’s 50-year history. If that sounds good to you, your local dealer is all ears.
