RML Group, creators of the RML Short Wheel Base and the road-converted Aston Martin Vulcan, has announced it’s set to build a ‘Le Mans Hypercar-inspired’ Porsche-911-based road car, as part of celebrations of its 40th birthday.

It’s one of four projects and products that RML is planning, with each marking a decade of the company’s operation. It’s the Porsche that’s the furthest down the road, so that’s what we’ll cover first.

Codenamed P39, RML Group wants the car to have “speed and handling capabilities well beyond standard,” which is saying something given certain versions of the current 911 will go well under 7 minutes at the Nürburgring.

The package will be designed to be applicable to 911s from across the range, with a selection of aero and powertrain options. In other words, you can have as much, or as little ‘Le Mans Hypercar-inspired’ 911-based special as you want. To look at the teaser images, we’re seeing a bit more inspiration coming from the old 911 GT1, than today’s 963 LMDh racer.

The other birthday projects? The next most-interesting, and the one to follow the 911, is an all-new track car code-named P40, which will use F1-inspired aero. Sounds exciting…

Next up (weirdly) is a battery pack. Demonstrating the versatility of RML Group, the high-performance VarEVolt battery module features technology proven around the Nürburgring and indeed, a certain be-fanned Goodwood Festival of Speed presented by Mastercard Hill record-holder.

The final chapter of these celebrations could be the most tantalising. RML’s bespoke division will be producing a carbon-bodied retro-modern coach build based on the contemporary Aston Martin V8 Vantage. We’re thinking very loosely along the lines of Aston Martin’s own Victor and Valour.

“RML Group has achieved an enormous amount in the previous 40 years, we are still focused squarely on the future as these product launches show,” said CEO, Michael Mallock.

“I am excited to bring all of these new high-performance products to market. They are just the beginning of a long product pipeline for us. I look forward to sharing more details on each soon.”
