The new Mini JCW will make its public debut at next weekend’s Nurburgring 24hr, competing in the SP T3 class for Bulldog racing. It’ll wear a camouflage livery inspired by the Monte Carlo Rally-winning Mini Cooper driven by Paddy Hopkirk in 1964.
Mini has yet to reveal specs, but we already know the new JCW will be a heavily updated version of the outgoing car. As the camouflaged car shows, you can expect the Mini to have big wheels and a pumped-up body kit.
Under the blistered bodywork, the 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol engine will crank out close to 250PS (184kW, making it good for 0-62mph in around six seconds and a top speed of more than 150mph. The petrol model will however be joined by an electric equivalent next year.
Along with the extra performance expect a stiffer chassis. The new JCW is tipped to come with adjustable dampers as standard, allowing you to choose between soft and stiff settings.
It’s on the inside where you can expect to see the biggest changes, with the JCW getting the same circular OLED infotainment and expensive materials as models from further down the new range. Expect the JCW to have smart details like sports seats and aluminium pedals too.
