Mini Aceman battery size, range and performance

You get two models: the entry-level Aceman E and the faster Aceman SE.

The SE is powered by a 218PS (160kW) electric motor that produces 329Nm (243lb ft) and drives the front wheels for 0-62mph in 7.1 seconds and a top speed of 106mph. Its 42.5kWh battery is good for a 252-mile range and charges at speeds of up to 95kWh.

The 184PS (135kW) E model produces 290Nm (214lb ft) and gets a smaller 42.5kWh battery for a 193-mile range and 75kW charging speeds. It gets from 0-62mph in 7.7 seconds and onto a 99mph top speed.

Mini is claiming the Aceman has direct steering and lots of grip. Naturally, you get a go-kart driving mode as one of the eight drive-select options. The Aceman will also be offered with a variety of suspension setups yet to be confirmed, but likely soft and firm springs with conventional dampers or a firmer setup with adjustable dampers.

Mini Aceman interior and practicality

The Aceman gets Mini's new generation of interior, with bright-coloured fabric covering much of the dashboard and doors, toggle switches in the lower half of the cabin, and a beautifully detailed OLED centre touchscreen on top. Mini says the Aceman can comfortably accommodate five with a 300-litre boot that should be usefully bigger than the new Cooper's.

On the outside, the Aceman gets the same minimalist design we have seen on the new Cooper and Countryman, with flush door handles and black or body-coloured plastics where you would have previously found chrome. Mini offers a range of customization options, including wheels that are 17-19 inches in size.

Mini Aceman trim levels

You get three primary trim levels: Classic, Exclusive, and Sport. Like a supermarket's basic food line, Classic removes the colour from the Aceman's packaging, leaving black exterior plastics and a choice of three colours, including Nanuq White and Midnight Black, with 17-inch wheels.

Exclusive models reinject the colour with paint shades, including the all-new Indigo Sunset Blue and Rebel Red. Glazed White and Multitone Blue roof colours are also offered, and you can choose from 18-inch or optional 19-inch wheels.

Finally, there's the Sport, which is the closest thing you can get to JCW trim, adding bonnet stripes, a red roof, and a rear spoiler. Again, it comes with a choice of 18- or 19-inch wheels.

Mini Aceman price and release date

Basic E versions of the Aceman start from £31,220, while SE models cost from £35,720. The car's on sale now, and deliveries are expected in autumn.
