Morgan LM62 is a tribute to a Le Mans winner

Limited to just 62 examples, these cars are a nod to the Plus 4 registered TOK 258 that Christopher Lawrence used to claim class honours on behalf of the Malvern marque six decades ago. The new cars will be available in Morgan Jet Green – aping the winning racer – or Morgan Tertre Rouge, aping the colour convention for Morgan racers in the 1960s. All will come with a Heritage White hardtop, per the original racer.

A more obvious giveaway that the Mog you’re poring over is an LM62 will be the graphics pack, with roundels and the winning car’s number: 29. They’ll have LM62 badging on the back, silver wire wheels, a Le Mans-style fuel filler, domed rear panel, driving spotlights, a black splitter, cowl mesh and a black active side exhaust.

On the inside, an LM62 metal plaque complete with the car’s build number joins LM62-engraved leather door pulls and graphics on the headrests. Added options include a soft-top and an LM62 accessory pack with twin-eared wheel spinners, a Moto-Lita steering wheel and headlight tape.

It’s not the first time Morgan has made a special model to celebrate the achievements of Lawrence in his hodge-podge proto SuperSports. Around eighty Le Mans 62 limited-run Plus 8s were sold in 2002 celebrating the 40th anniversary. This new Plus 4 could be its perfect peer in a Mog enthusiast’s garage. The LM62 is available to order now with pricing in the UK starting from £78,995.
