Hyundai Ioniq 5 N coming in 2023
Obviously, everyone is fawning over the incredible N Vision 74 and RN22e prototypes which are likely as incredible to drive as they are to look, at but what can buyers expect first from Hyundai N in the electric age? Happily, in addition to revealing these fabulous flights of fancy, the Korean marque has teased the arrival of the Ioniq 5 N.
Naturally, we know next to nothing about the sporty variant of Hyundai’s retro-futuristic crossover-hatch EV. All we’ve been told is that it’s arriving in 2023, with first details coming early next year.
Can we make any assumptions? Well, we know what the E-GMP platform is capable of, with the reveal of the monster Kia EV6 GT at the Goodwood Festival of Speed presented by Mastercard. Will the Ioniq 5 N have the full 585PS (430kW) wallop of the GT? Nothing’s impossible but we’d be surprised. The most powerful Ioniq 5 you can currently get is the 325PS (239kW) AWD 77.4kWh extra-long range model.
We do expect trick suspension and chassis tuning in combination with an electronic limited-slip differential, like the EV6 GT has. Hyundai N’s reputation is for producing finely-honed high-performance road cars that deliver as much or more positive driving feel as they do raw performance. We hope the same can be said of the Ioniq 5 N. More as we have it.
