Hyundai concept is a treasure-hunting Beast

Hyundai has turned the Tucson school run hack into a wilderness-devouring treasure hunter, with the Beast concept, created especially for the new Uncharted movie. This thing could give the old Spectre Defenders a run for their money.

New for the Beast are riveted extended rubber arches, chunky off-road tyres, jacked-up suspension and a bull bar big enough to clear Pamplona. There are chunky side runners, a roof cage with heavy-duty storage and a big snorkel for traversing deep rivers. We’re more curious if anything, about how the Tucson’s electronics would fare if the snorkel were put to serious work.

On the surface at least, this looks like the right car to go hunting for $5billion in lost treasure that’s been lost for 500 years. Whether Tom Holland’s Nathan Drake character will throw it out the back of a transport plane, as seen in a lot of the movie’s marketing, remains to be seen.

“The all-new TUCSON is a highly capable SUV that is up for the challenge of a treasure-hunting adventure,” said Thomas Schemera, Executive VP, Global Chief Marketing Officer and Head of Customer Experience Division of Hyundai Motor Company.

“‘Uncharted’ is a property with millions of fans around the world and we are excited to showcase the capabilities and technologies of our vehicles in ways that are creative and fitting to the Sony Pictures film.”
