We've teased it twice already, so here we go, the Honda HR-V has been away for a week as it carried the GRR team to the wonderful Retromobile Salon in Paris.

We know the crossover Honda can carry itself over long distances with no issues from previous excursions so it was no surprise to GRR that we arrived in the Paris neighbourhood of Porte de Versailles with the minimum of fuss.

Setting off at a time so hideously early we won't even dream of mentioning it here for fear of scaring off those of a nervous disposition, the heated and very comfortable seats, Bluetooth connectivity and space were very welcome to all who climbed on board. The surprisingly capacious luggage area carried the baggage of three people, plus all our photography and video equipment with no problems, making the trip from the Eurotunnel to Paris in less than three hours.

France's open motorways are the perfect testbed for what is probably the second home of the HR-V. We're pretty sure that, when the Hondas aren't cruising around towns and cities, they are most likely to be found covering distance with a family inside along the motorway networks of the world. So you'll be pleased to know that yet again the HR-V had no issues with the drive. Put the cruise control on, fire up your smartphone for some accompaniment and off you go. Of course in our case unlike those families returning from a bank holiday, when we arrive back we get to park it at Goodwood House. There have to be some perks you know.

Pricetag of our car: £26,780.

MPG this week: 58.7.
