Why the Mitsubishi e-Evolution has a lot to live up to

25th October 2017
Ben Miles

The Mitsubishi e-Evolution joined the world at the 2017 Tokyo Motor Show. It's not the first Mitsubishi to have the label Evolution added to it, so we thought we'd take a quick look back through the great moments that have had the name "Evo" attached to them while pondering if the new generation can live up to this.

The first one looks pretty bland today, but was incredible in 1992...

And Mitsubishi didn't keep photos of the first seven of them with anything other then a white background...

And then they developed a thing for grey...

But it was fine, because they looked good in any colour (even this strange yellow)...

And off road they looked imperious in the hands of Tomi Makkinen...

Richard Burns won his first rallies in an Evo...

Clarkson once raced one against a Lamborghini...

And Mitsubishi couldn't stop doing more hardcore editions...

While the Impreza went increasingly mainstream, the Evo stayed looking stunning...

So here's to you Mitsubishi Evo. And here's to a brave new generation of awesome!
