Ford GT says goodbye with limited LM edition

The last of the Ford GT special editions is upon us and, as such, the last of the Ford GTs. Meet the Ford GT LM, a celebration of the Blue Oval’s successful exploits at Le Mans, primarily its most recent class win in 2016.

Just 20 of these special editions will be available, featuring liquid silver paint with either red or blue tinted carbon fibre highlighting for the car’s lower aerodynamics. These colour highlights are mirrored on the engine bay louvres, mirror stalks and inner wheel barrels.

On the inside it’s all about the driver, with the hot seat coloured to match the exterior highlights, with the passenger seat in black with accent stitching. An extra special touch is a piece of Le Mans history for these special editions. Ford ground down the crank from the number 69 car that came third on 2016 and created 3D badges with the material for each of the 20 cars to be made.

The Ford GT LM will be the tenth and final limited edition series of cars and, appropriately, will also be the rarest, with the Holman Moody, Prototype and ‘66 heritage editions the only others coming in at under 30 units.

“With innovative materials, design and engineering, the Ford GT is unlike any other production supercar,” said Mark Rushbrook, global director, Ford Performance Motorsports.

“As we close this chapter of the road-going Ford GT, the GT LM Edition gave us a chance to inject even more heart and soul from a podium-finishing racecar, furthering the tribute to our 2016 Le Mans win.”
