Skoda has updated the Enyaq vRS for 2024 with the Volkswagen ID.4 and Ford Mustang Mach-E rival getting a significant hike in performance, faster charging speeds and extra equipment.
With 340PS (250kW) – 41PS (30kW) more than the old model – the new Enyaq vRS is the fastest accelerating Skoda ever sold, getting from 0-62mph in 5.5 seconds, it’s quicker than an entry-level Mach-E but still some way off the 3.7 seconds posted by top-of-the-range Mach-E GT.
The Skoda’s performance improvements don’t come at the expense of range. Recalibration of the motors and fettled software mean you get further from a full charge of the Skoda’s 77kWh battery – the more aero-friendly Enyaq vRS Coupe has a range of 340 miles, up 16 miles on before, while the SUV’s 336-mile range is a 15-mile increase.
Charging speeds have also improved – to 175kW from 135kW. As a result, a 10-80 per cent charge of the Enyaq’s battery takes as little as 28 minutes, eight minutes quicker than the old model.
Inside, updates to the Enyaq’s infotainment screen and optional head-up display make them easier to use with clearer graphics and icons. All Enyaq vRS models now also come with travel assist and speed assist; plus, you get walk-away locking, rear airbags, rear window blinds, rear USB-C plugs, and preparation for a tow bar.
You also get the Advanced pack (£2,035) and the Maxx pack (£3,980). The Advanced adds a head-up display, heated rear seats, a heated windscreen and a Canton sound system. The Maxx further adds a surround-view camera, electrically adjustable front seats with lumbar adjustment, Dynamic Chassis Control, progressive steering and a heated steering wheel with paddles that adjust the regenerative braking force.
Prices for the new Enyaq vRS will be confirmed when order books open before the end of this month.
