Crazy G-Class concept looks like a Kardashian's moon buggy

And you thought the Brabus from yesterday was going to be the craziest G-Class you’d see this week? Nope. Mercedes has that covered with this, the Project Mondo G, a G-Class designed seemingly for use in space, revealed at London Fashion Week.

Okay, so it isn’t a collaboration with NASA, rather the specialised luxury outwear fashion house Moncler, as a part of its ‘Art of Genius’ show. The G’s distinctive tyres and roof are modelled after the brand’s puffer jackets, albeit with materials and reflective surfaces inspired by machinery designed for space travel.

Those tyres and wheels too seem to sit outside of the wheel wells entirely, like an Icelandic Jeep designed for scooping its way across a shallow lake.

Contrasting the clean reflective surfacing of the roof and tyres is the body of the G, which is deliberately patinated to further the impression of ruggedness and utility. Perhaps the weirdest part, however, to that same end, is the fact the Mondo G has a giant zipper on top, which is claimed to be ‘a practical reference to the versatility and variability of both products, vehicle and jacket’. Okay…

Considered more an art piece than a concept car, the Mondo G is presented in an otherworldly winter scene that’s shown to have low gravity. It’s giving giving the impression of Kim K’s take on a Lunar rover. ‘Taking off with the Kardashians ft. Elon Musk’, coming soon…
