Whatever your opinions on the electrification of classics, there’s no denying it’s a sure-fire way of ‘saving’ them, should petrol be entirely vilified in the future. Many are already undertaking work to make such conversions possible, with the Morgan 4/4 and the Triumph Stag being the latest to go under the knife at the hands of Electrogenic.

These are believed to be two world firsts for these models, confirmed by the owners club in the case of the Stag. So what are the specs? Well, gone is the 3.0-litre V8 of this Stag and the four-cylinder of this Morgan. In their place, a 37kWh battery and an 80kW electric motor. Those are good for an approximate range of 150 miles in both cars, both also able to charge up with a Type 2 charger.

The conversions are described as ‘sympathetic’, maintaining the classic form factor of the originals. Before you see them move, unless you notice the lack of exhaust, you’d be hard-pressed to tell.

These are two customer cars, with the owners setting the expectations. Electrogenic offers a ‘full suite of classic car electrification options for customers’.

“We love the challenge of converting beautiful classic cars with technology that means they will be able to continue to be used guilt-free, even in our cities, for years to come,” said Ian Newstead, Director and Co-Founder of Electrogenic.

“Working on first-time conversions such as the Stag and the Morgan 4/4 helps us to continue honing both our technology offering and our knowledge of the integration process in different body types, and means we maintain our position as a leader in classic car electrification.”
