Bugatti's first EV is an e-scooter

The latest reveal from the French proprietors of multi-million-pound sixteen-cylinder hypercars is an e-scooter. From our perspective, it's the best excuse for a clickbait headline since 'five things that you wouldn’t believe', but we’ll spare you.

Revealed at CES, the Bugatti electric scooter is a collaboration with Bytech International. It does at least have one thing in common with its contemporary four-wheeled siblings – it sports industry-leading numbers. Packing 700 watts, it’s twice as powerful as its supercar-branded competitor, the Lamborghini AL1. That comparison reads not unlike how comparisons between those marque’s cars do.

Compared to a Chiron, the scooter is a featherweight at 15.9kg. The Chiron will go a little further, though, given the scooter’s powered range is around 22 miles. That is if you don’t run it flat out at up to 18.5 mph – roughly 16-times slower than its siblings. It’s well-equipped though, with three driving modes, ABS and cruise control.

Even Bugatti design tropes can be carried over to a scooter. The stunning French racing blue lays over artistic surfaces and carefully sculpted contours. The single light bar curving round at the back rings a bell, as does the hewn-out magnesium alloy chassis for weight-saving. There’s even something resembling a horseshoe on the front. The biggest giveaway that this scooter is a Bugatti is the EB puddle light out back.

So what do you think? Would you pay the no doubt exorbitant but hopefully not seven-figure price for this Bugatti two-wheeler?
