Bugatti has revealed the final interior of its ultimate Bolide track-only hypercar, what will likely be the last Bugatti to use the W16 engine.
The Bugatti Bolide was first shown more than two years ago now, albeit in concept form, but the real thing is nearing the end of its development. In that time, the cabin has changed fairly significantly, only the production spec actually looks more like a concept than the concept did. The things you can do with multi-million-pound hypercars with zero rules governing them…
So what have we got? Well, it’s hard to look at anything before the wheel, which leans heavily on the Bolide’s ‘X’ theme notable in its front and rear lighting and bodywork shapes. On the wheel centre itself there no less than ten individual controls, per the Bolide’s pseudo racing car remit. The main engine start button below the Bugatti badge is flanked by pit, launch control, display, traction control, ABS, radio, flash and more.
While the Bolide has very little to do with the Chiron in terms of chassis, some of the styling elements of its cabin do take influence, for instance with that stylistic central ‘spine’, though the vents it’s flanked by are very much more ‘motorsport’ in fit and finish. Just like the driver’s display, which is all about lap times, tyre temperatures and engine performance.
As you might imagine, the cabin of the Bolide, with its much more reclined driving position, FIA-spec safer compliance and lowered roofline, feels a lot more compact than that of the Chiron. The seats are not so much seats as they are strategically-placed supports and padding, glued to the chassis to create the shape of a seat. Not exactly the sumptuous cabin of a Grand Tourer we’re used to in most Bugattis, but even though it’s a track special you’ll note how beautifully it’s appointed.
