How do you make the world’s most luxurious car even more so?

By lopping the top off, says Bentley, which has today revealed the new Continental GT Mulliner Convertible, complete with a double diamond front grille, bookended by cut-crystal inspired, precision-made headlamps and Mulliner branded side vents.

With a unique silver on black diamond theme across the 61 paint options (plus bespoke colour-matched designs), new Mulliner 22" wheels (with self-levelling wheel badges) and of course, a plush droptop, the Mulliner Convertible is the car to be seen in this summer. That’s if you can get your head past the no doubt weighty price tag, which will be revealed with the model at March’s Geneva Motor Show.

Designed and built by the manufacturer’s own bespoke Mulliner division, the Continental GT Mulliner Convertible boasts an entirely hand-crafted interior, complete with almost 400,000 stitches in the diamond quilted interior trim – a design which reportedly took 18 months. These contrast stitched diamonds contain exactly 712 individual stitches each –all aligned to point perfectly to the centre of their respective diamond.

Mirroring the rhombus design is the milled LED-display and centre console, with an exclusive brushed silver Breitling clock. Eight three-colour combinations can adorn the cabin, while seven different mood lighting options are configurable. Illuminated Mulliner tread plates, LED welcome lamps and embroidered logos throughout are there to remind you exactly what you’re driving. But in case owners do forget, they’ll just need to glance down at the colour-matched keys, presented in perfectly embossed leather boxes.

If they’re that way inclined, the lucky buyers can opt for the Naim for Bentley audio system, which features eighteen speakers and two Active Bass transducers.

The model will be available with two powertrain options. With the 6.0-litre, twin-turbocharged W12, it will boast 0-60mph acceleration of just 3.7 seconds, before accelerating all the way up to 207mph. Meanwhile, the new-generation 4.0-litre, twin-turbocharged V8 will deliver a four second 0-60mph, with a top speed of 198 mph.

Frankly, it’s exquisite, but then you wouldn’t expect any less from the oldest automotive coachbuilder in the world…
