Bentley Flying Spur S comes with either V8 or V6 hybrid

So, what makes up the Flying Spur S? Well, it’s largely a carryover of the Continental GT S. That’s to say, as-standard Dynamic Ride Control and all-wheel-steering, a sportier-sounding exhausts, lots of design tweaks inside and out – with black trimming the biggest giveaway – and a sportier driver’s display. Bentley describes the S treatment aesthetically as “purposeful yet understated”.

What’s different with the Spur, is that S specification can be had both with the V8 and the hybrid. That means either the 550PS (405kW) twin-turbo V8, as seen in the Continental, or the 2.9-litre twin-turbo V6 paired with an electric motor to deliver 544PS (400kW). Both have similar performance – 0-62mph comes up in 4.0 and 4.1 seconds respectively – though the hybrid obviously benefits from all-electric running, with a 26-mile range.

As above, the entire S range is set to make its dynamic debut on the Hill at the Festival of Speed, which opens next week. The Flying Spur S will be joined by a Continental GT S and the soft-top GTC S in the First Glance class. When they’re not on the Hill, they’ll be in the paddocks for you to see up close. Bentley will also be celebrating over the course of the event, 40 years of turbocharged Bentleys, with a parade of cars on hand.
