Aston Martin has teased a new version of the Vantage, to be revealed on Monday 22nd March. If you’ve been paying attention to this year’s blossoming F1 season, you’ll know exactly what it’s going to be.
Compare and contrast, this teaser, with Aston’s new F1 safety car. They’re the same, right? Minus of course, the safety car lighting array. Present and correct are the altered side vents, vaned grille and chunky rear wing. Once fully revealed, we expect to see the front canards and the lovely Aston Martin Racing Green paint, with lurid AMR lime green highlights on the extended splitter, rear diffuser and wing. The only difference we can see, minus the lighting, is the wheels. We also fully expect this selection of body mods to be made available as optional extras under the ‘Q’ outfit.
Quite why there is all this secrecy, when the car is effectively already hidden in plain sight, is slightly perplexing. Nevertheless, the Aston safety car is kind of a big deal. As we’ve previously mentioned, it’s the first non-Mercedes F1 safety car since the mid-1990s. It also coincides with Aston’s return to Formula 1 as a full constructor for over 60 years with the AMR21 F1 car.
