A new Lancia Stratos is up for sale

A couple of years ago, an industrialist-come-car collector with plenty of wedge to spare commissioned Pininfarina to develop a modern interpretation of the Lancia Stratos, based on the Ferrari F430. The result was one of the most desirable coach-builds of recent memory. Just 25 were to be made, though they didn’t even manage half of that. In spite of the rarity, you could have one, given this one is for sale.

Wearing the stunning historical Alitalia livery, alongside some pretty cool rally-style spotlights that along with the headlights, shine yellow. What makes this one even more special? It’s based on the exclusive and hardcore Ferrari F430 Scuderia, meaning it packs around 510PS (375kW), put to the rear wheels via a sharpened F1 paddle-shift transmission.

The Stratos has a shorter wheelbase compared to the 430 on which it’s based, as well as a totally bespoke glasshouse and bodywork. This example has covered under 2,500 miles since its conversion and is available for €850,000.

Now the most interesting tidbit we’ve come to learn from the listing of this car, is that of the 25 cars that were meant to be made, just eight are believed to have been completed. Short of a special project Ferrari, or a limited run Pagani, Koenigsegg or Bugatti, this is about as rare as it gets. What a stunning thing…
