Andrew Jordan is a young, feisty BTCC hero. Missing out on the 2019 crown by just two points, the 30-year-old has started 355 BTCC races and holds an impressive 26 wins, 72 podiums and, of course, the 2013 championship. Jordan started his career in Rallycross, winning a host of junior races and becoming the youngest ever driver and race winner in the British Rallycross Supercar class in 2006. Following a stint in the Renault Clio Cup, he moved across to BTCC, where he has raced with various teams over the past decade.
In the third weekend of the 2013 BTCC season, following another car through Thruxton’s Church Corner – one of the fastest on the BTCC calendar – the then 24-year-old dips a wheel onto the grass on corner entry at well over 100mph. Luckily, skill saw him regain control with just one hand, drifting around the corner and out of trouble.
Driving a turbo-engined Vectra for Pirtek Racing, Jordan set the fastest lap in two of the three races at Thruxton, and consistent performances throughout the season culminated in a Driver’s Championship win for the young racer – his only one to date. We doubt it’ll be his last.
