Video: This Vantage GT4 rally car sounds like the devil

Have you ever listened to an exhaust and, truly, wondered whether your day could actually get any better? Everyone in the GRR office did when we heard this. It should be illegal for an engine to sound this good.

This is Francois Delecour doing what he does best, tearing up a stage in something incredibly fast. But instead of a Ford Escort or a rally-spec 911 or Alpine, Delecour is behind the wheel of an Aston Martin V8 Vantage GT4 which, it seems, has an exhaust system without any sort of silencer. It’s an old clip, from the Rallye du Var in 2017, but that’s irrelevant quite frankly. Electric racers might be quick – the ID.R still blows our minds – but in terms of aural drama there’s nothing quite like this.
