In the lull between the racing seasons we were forced to turn to miniature action to get our kicks. Which is when we found this, the 3DBotMaker Diecast Racing League. You can tell how bored we were.
The 3DBotMaker Diecast Racing League is where enthusiasts gather to race 1:64 diecast rally cars – who knew that was a thing, right? In this first event of the 2020 season, the likes of the Lancia Stratos, Subaru WRX STI, 1985 Porsche 911 Rallys and Volkswagen Scirocco GT 24, made by Tomica, Hot Wheels or Matchbox, go head-to-head on a realistic mountainside course.
Unlike conventional rallying, which has staggered starts, one car takes on the miniature course at a time, with the commentators providing a complete run-by-run report. Tunnels, jumps and miniature recovery vehicles all contribute to making the series seem as realistic as possible, however ultimately it’s not pretending to pass for the real thing.
But it’s certainly a popular series, with more than 92,000 subscribers to the channel. Perhaps there should be a 1:64 scale Goodwood Revival…
