Video: The Dakar Series China rally is racing from another planet

23rd February 2018
Ethan Jupp

There’s been much talk in recent months of man’s ambitions to take genuine steps in the exploration of our universe. Young minds have designs on reaching for the stars and finding new planets to explore.

NASA, various other space agencies, if you’re looking for people and machines to traverse the harsh lands of a newly-discovered world, look no further than the engineers and drivers in the Dakar Series. The China Rally features mutated machines scooping their way through the blistering heat. It’s otherworldly terrain and scenery to the point where you half expect the heavily modified Navara not to land, having just launched itself off the tip of a titanic dune. Nevermind your Mars rovers, send up some Dakar madness.
