Video: The Brabham BT62 has a very angry V8
As we look back at some of the great teams that have visited Goodwood over the years, teams like McLaren and Williams, we’ve been able to see some truly mesmerising machinery.
Another team name that has popped up numerous times over the decades at Goodwood is Brabham, as Brabham cars, as well as the legendary Jack Brabham himself, all raced at Goodwood before the Motor Circuit closed in 1966, and have raced since it reopened in 1998.
The newest Brabham to journey to Goodwood is the BT62, a track-day monster developed by Jack Brabham’s son David (himself a winner of the 2009 24 Hours of Le Mans with the Peugeot and two-time American Le Mans Series champion) to honour his father’s legacy and, well, go really, really fast.
How fast? Really fast. We’ve seen it steam up the Goodwood Hill, but the onboard from its lap of the Mount Panorama Bathurst circuit in 2019 intense. What’s more, in an era of turbocharged track and race machines, the Brabham BT62 has a refreshingly simply 5.4-litre naturally-aspirated V8. Damn it sounds glorious.
