Video: Last-lap battle in the wet for WSB championship

23rd December 2022

Bike racers are almost in a constant state of proving that they’re a different breed of human, even when they’re off their steeds. Be that at the Isle of Man or in this case, during the last race of the 2021 World Superbike Championship. Yes the track looks like its about as grippy as the floor in a butter factory and yes, Jonathan Rea and Scott Redding are going absolutely hell-for-leather, in a last-lap battle for the title.

The boys demonstrate they are possessed of baubles of steel, as they trade places around the sopping Pertamina Mandalika Circuit in Indonesia. The speeds they carry, the fearless side-by-side jostling, as the spray spews off the rear tyres, we can only imagine that kind of commitment requires you suspend your understanding of the laws of physics.
