First, we sit inside the cockpit, as the Italian slides around, testing the limits of grip on cold tyres. A few over-zealous throttle blips through the opening turns require corrective steering, reminding Randazzo to feather the throttle as the car comes up to temperature. Sure, a great onboard, however, this Exige’s real glory is only fully realised from a trackside vantage. The raucous symphony from the full Ajko titanium exhaust system rolls across the Venetian countryside, spitting out flame upon throttle lift. The car lifts a wheel out of the tighter turns, revealing just how stiff the set-up is. It is clear this is not your run-of-the-mill Lotus! A comprehensive rebuild, including a lot of bespoke work, removed almost 200kg transformed Randazzo’s stock Exige S into this lightweight rocket. Remember to turn that volume up to 11.
