The future of motorsport? Only joking. We don’t see these replacing sports prototypes on the Mulsanne straight, though this does look fantastically entertaining. It is of course, the eSkootr electric scooter championship. Honestly, it looks absolutely hectic.
Aggressive elbow-to-elbow racing, hard leaning, clashes and crashes – it’s like a return to 1990s BTCC racing! Actually, it’s arguably more treacherous, given the driver/rider in eSkootr is a majority component of the structure and, as you can see, scooter and rider are easily separated if there’s a prang or a sudden loss of grip or control. It seems to just be a common part of the racing. The championship-winning round follows this one but here we really get a sense of how difficult these things can be to ride, especially in colder, slipperier conditions.
