Video: Ford’s farewell to Ken Block
The recent news that Ford and Ken Block had parted ways came as a blow to the motoring world. The iconic pairing had spent the last decade creating screeching, smoke-filled memories, and in all honesty, we hadn’t seen the split coming.
Alas, the Hoonigan is now a lone wolf – but it appears the break-up was at least amicable, with Ford Performance posting a video thanking Block for his tenure – or ten years, whatever. Featuring everything from the Ford GT to the Focus RS RX, the 1965 Mustang Hoonicorn RTR V2 to the Mach-E 1400 and Block’s beloved 1974 Ford Escort RS Cosworth Cossie, the video is a fitting tribute to the magic the partnership created. To a showreel of Block’s most impressive stunts, Ford CEO Jim Farley expresses his pride and gratitude to the 53-year-old rally driver, wishing him the best for the future.
Accompanying the video, a statement said: "All of us at Ford are very grateful for Ken Block and his bringing the thrill of Ford Performance vehicles to a whole new generation of car buyers. He did it in ways that were uniquely Ken – with fun, energetic and extraordinary driving exhibitions that were unmatched in the automotive world, along with important victories and performances in rally and rallycross worldwide. Ken, thanks for ten great years of Hooning."
