Video: Crazy 100mph desert racers
Have you ever watched a car fly down a road or track and wonder “how has it not crashed?” or “how has it not broken up into 1,000,000 pieces?” If not then there’s every chance what you’re about to see will prompt that reaction.
Welcome to ‘Rage at the River’ from the SNORE – the Southern Nevada Off-Road Enthusiasts, if you were wondering. Essentially it’s an event where some of the wildest off-road racing trucks come together across some truly challenging terrain. It isn’t off-road in the sense of driving through deep, muddy ditches or trying to scale near-vertical cliff faces, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t challenging. In fact, it’s frightening how bouncy these paths are. Frightening, too, is how fast the trucks are, with what sounds like some very highlight strung, high-capacity V8s nestled within their chassis.
The scariest part of this competition, though, is how close the drivers get to one another. The video focuses on the driver of Sheila, Josh Daniels. Doing what looks to be somewhere over the 100mph mark, Daniels and another racer are inches apart at times, all while flying through the air, landing, bouncing (the springs and dampers on these cars deserve medals, frankly), and taking off again. It’s ridiculous.
