Video: Chasing Mad Mike in a helicopter

How did you spend your weekend? Went for a walk perhaps? Maybe watched a bit of sport? Well, a sure fire way of making yours seem boring is checking out what Mad Mike Whiddett is up to. Mad Mike is a huge favourite at the Goodwood Festival of Speed presented by Mastercard and always puts on a show in one of his drift cars, but this footage he’s shared from 2013 is something else.

You may remember his Conquer The Crown video in his 4rotor RX7 which wowed the internet and on this almost 10-year anniversary, he’s shared some incredible footage from the helicopter chasing him down.

The main thing we’ve taken away from this clip is that despite the incredibly loud helicopter noise, you can still hear the RX7 engine screaming as Mike drifts his way through the New Zealand mountains. Glorious.

Welcome to Goodwood Elevenses, a mid-morning (and sometimes evening) helping of motoring-related amusement to help break up your day. Watch the previous video: Can the old Audi Quattro S1 beat today’s electric Dakar challenger?
