Formula E champion and former F1 Driver Stoffel Vandoorne will race for Peugeot in the WEC on a full-time basis after standing in for the injured Nico Müller in a 9X8 Hypercar at Fuji earlier this month.

The 31-year-old Belgian steered his Peugeot to seventh place in Japan alongside Loic Duval and Gustavo Menezes. It was his first race in the WEC since the end of his 2021 campaign with JOTA Sport in LMP2 and his first in the top flight since the 2018/2019 season with SMP Racing in a BR1 AER LMP1 where he made two starts – taking third place at Spa and Le Mans.

Vandoorne said: “I’m really happy to join the team as official driver for the 2024 season. I have always appreciated the FIA WEC and am familiar with it as I raced in 2019 and 2021.

“My goal was clearly to come back to this championship and even more now with the Hypercar class, with so many manufacturers. Having the opportunity to fight for the victory and at the 24 Hours of Le Mans is fantastic and I think it’s a dream for a lot of drivers.

“I’m really glad to be part of this team and excited to start with Peugeot.”
