Ken Block has unveiled his latest motorsport venture; it’s an outrageously pink Porsche 912 that has been transformed into a Pikes Peak beast.
It’s been dubbed the "Hoonipigasus" and it’s been engineered by BBi Autosport, the experts behind Porsche’s previous Pikes Peak success, with the intention of taking the spoils at this years’ event –which just so happens to be the 100th running.
This will be Block’s second attempt at the iconic hillclimb. He first entered back in 2005 at the wheel of a 200PS (147kW) Group N rally car, a far cry from what he’ll be driving upon his return. Since that initial venture, he has harboured an ambition to become a Pikes Peak winner, and this new car ought to give him a decent chance.
It’s a heavily modified Porsche 911 from 1966 with the 4.0-litre flat-six from a GT3 Cup car but twin-turbocharged, producing 1,400PS (1,030kW) – the first and probably only car of its kind. It’s all-wheel-drive and weighs just 1,000kg, which should make for some pretty savage acceleration.
Block said: “The Pikes Peak Hill Climb is one of the big reasons as to why I’m a rally driver. I’ve always wanted the chance to race Pikes Peak at the top level and compete for an overall win – and with our team and BBi Autosport creating this amazing Porsche, we’ve got a good shot!”
Betim Berisha, the founder of BBi Autosport added: "The Hoonipigasus is an absolute dream-come-true type of build… It doesn't get any more mental from a tech, power, aero, and visual standpoint. We are building the world's nastiest 911."
