Roger Clark Motorsport’s Gobstopper series of hillclimb monsters is close to our hearts here at Goodwood. It was a golden few years at the Festival of Speed presented by Mastercard when the incredible Impreza, nicknamed Gobstopper II, battled historic sportscars and supercars on our Hill. Well now, its long-awaited successor is ready to run. Everyone, meet Gobstopper III.
To appearances, the top side of a Subaru BRZ has been epoxy bonded onto the floor of a Group C car, with rear venturis to make an Aston Martin Valkyrie feel self-conscious. There’s also a rear wing to make the new Porsche 911 GT3 RS feel like a Touring and a front splitter to make a McLaren Senna GTR conscious of its jawline. Truthfully, there’s very little BRZ actually in there, with a space frame chassis underpinning the fully carbon fibre body.

It’s all-wheel-drive by comparison to the road car’s rear-only setup and for good reason, given it’s packing 950PS (699kW) from its nitrous-infused monster EJ20 2.0-litre flat-four-cylinder engine. Gobstopper III is getting a proper run out at Mallory Park’s Quick60 Challenge on 17th September. How much do you want to see this monster unleashed at the Festival of Speed presented by Mastercard?
