As part of the celebrations surrounding the 30th anniversary of Gran Turismo (can it really have been around that long...?) there is going to be a free trial version with no up front charges for the Sony PlayStation 4 and 5. There are no details yet, and not even a specific release date, but it’s promised to be available by "this holiday."
The idea is clearly to bring new players to the franchise, and My First Gran Turismo will feature a curated selection of cars, tracks and events from the full version of Gran Turismo 7, which has been around since 2022.
There are no specifics yet as to what will be included, but online speculation centres around iconic ‘PlayStation generation’ cars like the Nissan GT-R. We would also hope to see some of the more eccentric cars that have made their mark on the franchise, such as the Daihatsu Midget II. What we don’t expect to see is anything new that’s not already in the paid-for version of Gran Turismo 7.
As one of the longest-established games of its ilk, and arguably the title that kickstarted the genre of realistic driving simulators, it’s great to see it still striving to bring new enthusiasts into the fold.
