It’s the first Hyundai built to the new hybrid Rally1 regulations, and the second Rally1 car we've seen after Ford's Fiesta broke cover recently.

In a testing livery for now, the full car will be unveiled before the end of the year and then take to the stages in 2022. Every top-level WRC machine will feature a hybrid powertrain in ’22, so the Hyundai is one of many, and next year will be piloted by five-time WRC runner-up Thierry Neuville and 2019 champion Ott Tänak.

“It’s a special moment when you take a car to the road for the first time and as always there are some challenges to face,” said Hyundai team principal Andrea Adamo.

“During last week’s session we have seen interesting things, some that need to be changed and improved but it is all part of the process and of the job.

“The team at Hyundai Motorsport has done an amazing job and has worked so hard to prepare the car for the first test in such a short amount of time.”
