F1 Academy drivers to receive Super Licence points in 2024

The all-female series has been brought into line with the F1 calendar in 2024, acting as a support series at seven rounds beginning at the Saudi Arabia Grand Prix in March.

Among a series of announcements, F1 Academy also announced the introduction of wildcard entries. The will be added to the grid at selected rounds of the championship, and awarded to chosen drivers on specific weekends.

The wildcard car will be run by the Prema team in addition to their three-car line-up of Tina Hausmann, Doriane Pin and Maya Weug.

In a similar move to F2 regulations, an update to sporting regulations stipulates that drivers will only be allowed to compete in F1 Academy for two seasons.

These are the latest in a series of steps to build on F1 Academy’s first season which Susie Wolff, F1 Academy Managing Director said are a “testament to the strength of F1 Academy’s on track proposition and will help fuel their progression as they move up the single seater pyramid.”

She added: “The introduction of the Wild Card entrants will promote regional talent, engage with local communities, and increase the talent pool in the regions in which we race which will be important for our long-term growth and ensure we are creating even more opportunities for women to get involved in our sport.”
