The yearly Formula 1 game is set to release earlier than previous iterations this year, with F1 24 set to hit shelves and online marketplaces on 31st May. And that’s not for lack of any updates or changes to the game, which some have come to expect of these yearly release titles.
F1 24 will feature a revised career mode with more drivers available to play as beyond the current roster, including F2 stars and even past masters, which include the slightly weird addition of James Hunt and Juan Pablo Montoya as icon drivers for those who buy the Champions Edition.
Your performance will be reflected in greater detail in what opportunities you get within a team to influence the direction the car is taking, with clear superiority to your teammate being rewarded over basic parity or trailing behind them. Do really well and gain recognition and you could find yourself in meetings with rivals about making high-profile team switches – live your best ‘Hamilton to Ferrari’ life. There’s also the possibility to play through a two-player career mode.
The physics have also been updated with suspension and tyre models revised for 2024. Freedom over car setup variables has been expanded too.
As expected, changes to the current calendar of circuits seen in real-life will make their way to the game. Tracks like Silverstone and Spa-Francorchamps that have undergone some updates in recent times are now bang up to date, as are Jeddah and Losail.
The audio for the game has been updated too with spatial diffraction and reflection, meaning more distinctive echoes specific to different styles of track – from the more open circuits, to the more compact street circuits.
F1 24 is available to pre-order now and will be available to play both on current and last-generation consoles, as well as on PC.
