The Andretti Formula E team has announced that F1 Academy drivers Chloe Chambers and Nerea Martí will be driving its Gen3 Evo car at the upcoming all-women Formula E test.

Chambers, who has recently confirmed she’ll be remaining in F1 Academy for the 2025 season with the Red Bull Ford programme, will be making her Formula E debut as an American driving for the American team.

Since beginning her karting journey at the age of eight, she graduated into the US Formula 4 Championship in 2021 before heading to W Series in ’22. She took her first senior title in dominant fashion in the Porsche Sprint Challenge North America in 2023, and also claimed a historic first victory for a woman in the Formula Regional Oceania Championship.

In 2024, Chambers has taken one victory and three podiums in F1 Academy and currently sits fourth in the drivers’ standings with two rounds to go.

“I'm thrilled to be joining the Andretti Formula E team in Valencia," Chambers said. "It will be different for me, being my first experience in electric racing, but I'm excited to take on this new challenge and expand my horizons. The Andretti Formula E team has had great success in Formula E, and I'm glad to be learning from some of the best!

"As an American, it’s especially exciting to be working with such an iconic name in racing... I’ll be putting 100% into learning all I can during the test.”

She’ll be joined by fellow F1 Academy racer Nerea Martí, who will also be experiencing Formula E for the first time during the all-woman test. It takes place in her home town in Valencia at the Ricardo Tormo Circuit, which is a helpful advantage for her as she gets up to speed in a new car.

Martí made her senior racing debut in Spanish F4 in 2019, scoring a podium first time out, and moved to W Series in 2021 where she performed as the best rookie that season. After finishing fourth in the inaugural season of F1 Academy, she remained on the grid for a second season where she currently sits fifth in the drivers’ standings after taking three podium places as part of a nine-race point scoring run.

“Getting behind the wheel of a Formula E car is an incredible opportunity,” Martí said. “Formula E represents the future of racing, and I’m going to soak up every moment and learn as much as I can from the experience.

"The Series is all about innovation and pushing boundaries, and as a female driver, it’s what I’ve been striving for throughout my career, so I’m thrilled to be part of it.

"I feel humbled by Andretti’s rich history, passion and dedication across all the series they compete in, and I couldn’t have dreamed of wearing better colours. I’m ready to give it everything I’ve got.”

Andretti Formula E Team Principal, Roger Griffiths, said: ““We are super excited to announce both Chloe and Nerea as the Andretti drivers for the all-women test in Valencia. As an organisation, we have been leaders in promoting women in motorsport, fielding multiple drivers over the years across our varied programs, and being the only Formula E team to run a woman driver for a full season with Simona de Silvestro in Season 2.

"Both Chloe and Nerea have shown their pedigree in F1 Academy with regular visits to the podium, and we are eager to see how they get on in the Andretti Porsche 99X Electric Formula E car. I’m sure they will be following closely on the progress that Jake and Nico make throughout the week to learn as much as they can before they take to the track.”
