2025 F3 drivers and teams

11th October 2024

It’s the beginning of a new era for FIA Formula 3 as we prepare for the arrival of a brand new Dallara chassis to race in the 2025 season. That’s not all that’s new for next season, though, as the grid will also be joined by the DAMS team which expands its programme from Formula 2.

30 drivers will once again contest the F3 championship in 2025 across ten race weekends, the 2024 champion Leonardo Fornaroli will graduate to F2 alongside Ardvid Lindblad.

Which teams will race in F3 in 2025?

DAMS takes the tenth place on the grid vacated by the Jenzer Motorsport team, which departs after racing in both GP3 and F3 since 2010 with drivers including current F1 star Yuki Tsunoda and Formula E racers Nico Müller and Taylor Barnard.

The switch confirms the French DAMS team that competed in GP3 in 2016 and ’17 will return for the 2025, ’26 and ’27 seasons. It joins reigning champions Prema, Trident, ART, Campos, Hitech, MP Motorsport, Van Amersfoort Racing, Rodin and AIX.

Each team will enter three cars, forming a 30-car grid of the world’s most exciting young motorsport talent.

Confirmed drivers for the 2025 F3 season

So far only Trident and ART have confirmed their full driver line-ups for the 2025 F3 season. At Trident, Charlie Wurz, son of former F1 driver Alex Wurz, remains with the team with which he managed a single points finish in 2024, and will be joined by 2024 Formula Regional European champion Rafael Câmara and Noah Strømsted.

ART meanwhile welcomes Tuukka Taponen, another FRECA graduate, for 2025. The Ferrari Driver Academy member joins the grid alongside fellow debutant James Wharton and the returning Laurens van Hoepen.

17-year-old McLaren Development Driver Ugo Ugochukwu joins F3 with Prema after middling seasons in FRECA and Formula Regional Middle East, alongside another son of a former F1 racer, Brando Badoer, who finished fifth in the FRECA standings.

Mari Boya retains his seat at Campos Racing, and will be joined by Tasanapol Inthraphuvasak who moves across from Van Amersfoort Racing. Martinius Stenshorne meanwhile remains with Hitech, who welcomes the Chinese 18-year-old Gerrard Xie into its F3 fold after a consistent season for the team in the GB3 championship.

New Zealand’s Louis Sharp makes a similar step up for Rodin after he claimed the GB3 title in 2024. The 17-year-old Kiwi joined the Rodin outfit back when it was Carlin in 2022, and won the British F4 championship in 2022. He’ll be aiming to make it a hat-trick of titles in 2025.

MP Motorsport, Van Amersfoort Racing, AIX Racing and DAMS are all yet to confirm any of their drivers for next season.
